This month's presentations

The April BAWA meeting will have boxes, boxes and more boxes! Boxes of all descriptions for the Annual BAWA Box Contest. Look for Mark Rand when you arrive with your entry of a box - with at least part of it made from wood!.

Please be willing to help by filling out the voting forms which will be submitted during the break.

Following the break our main speaker will be John Levine, the Editor of WOODWORK Magazine, which has featured at least three covers with BAWA members and many more of various presenters to our club. Yeung Chan has made the cover twice, and this month our OWN Mike Bray can be seen on the cover with a project he describes in an article. John will discuss the process of taking an idea and with his skill turn it into a good article. He will use an idea a BAWA member has told him about and that member will interface with John during the meeting so we can see what facets the article needs to go through (improve? rewrite? add drawings?) to become publishable.

John had a woodworking business for over 20 years before entering the publishing business, so he did not enter this field with a journalism background. Without magazines like Woodwork we would all be struggling much more to learn woodworking and would need to instead rely on the old apprenticeship method!

This will be an informative meeting with a fun contest and good speaker.

Directions:

From 101, take the East Hillsdale exit. Drive a mile plus toward the bay. Turn right on Shell Blvd.

From the East Bay, take the San Mateo Bridge (92 West), Take the Foster City Blvd. Exit, and head southeast. Turn right on East Hillsdale Ave. and left on Shell Blvd.

From (92 eastbound), exit onto Foster City Blvd., turn right on Hillsdale, turn left on Shell.

FOR ALL DIRECTIONS:
Once on Shell, get in the left lane. Go past the library, and make a U-Turn at the center island opening. Then turn into the parking lot that is behind the library. The stairs to the community rooms are at the north end of the building.
