Jigs & Fixtures

BAWA members have some of the best and most clever ideas for wood working so come to the Annual Jigs & Fixtures extravaganza on October 18th in Foster City and see them and hear how they are used. In fact you might be one of the people with some useful jigs in your shop (Ok, shop attic, back corner of the shop, on top of the not-yet-restored muscle car or antique car) or wherever you keep your handy jigs or fixtures for making a process safe, swift, accurate, easier, smoother or just doable! We are all anxious to learn more about jigs to help measure and replicate, jigs to hold wood while cutting, chopping, carving, sawing, filing, sanding. Jigs to perform feats with table saws, chain saws, radial arm saws, band saws, jig saws and hand saws. Jigs are also welcome to work with biscuits to work with plywood, and to work with arthritic hands. If your jig is too big to bring to the meeting try a photo or drawing so that we can hear about it. Got a jig you haven't exactly made yet? Then bring a drawing of what you will be making and explain why it will be helpful to your woodworking. Got a clever way to get heavy plywood moved without lifting -- let us know how you perform that feat! BAWA members share their ideas with other BAWA members, this is what makes our club great and our members more proficient each year. Got a clever saw horse - bring it along, even a new use for an old tool like the nearly extinct radial arm saw is now useful to create new tools and jigs. Better bring some method of recording these ideas since there will be some good ones -- paper & pencil, digital cameras, video cameras.

Due to the anticipated large number of items, there is no Tech Talk planned. Come and enjoy the fruits of our club members and enrich your shop with the proven ideas that you will witness.

Oh yes, don't forget Show and Tell. Bring all your creations and share them with us. This is the favorite part of the meeting for many members.
