Each of them developed systems that were intricate a and sophisticated, with a great number of similarities as well as some significant differences. Many of the differences concerned the application of these joints: the Chinese excelled in furniture production, while the Japanese focused on architectural projects. This presentation surveys the joinery of these two cultures, and examines the construction and application of many of these joints."

While not difficult to learn and use, they do require skills not in the typical woodworker's toolbox. Building on his own experience designing and building a CNC router, Jon will discuss the basics of using this new tool, from the available software and machine options to why you might care.

Visit to Urban Moose Timber & Design Urban Moose salvages urban logs and saws them into slabs. Slabs are thickness planed, leveled and kiln dried into lumber. Urban Moose sells finished, dry slabs to customers who design and build rustic and fine furniture. The goal of the company is to offer full service, starting with whole logs, cut the slabs, dry them and size them for customers who enjoy designing and building their own furniture. We will see a demonstration of the entire process. The Urban Moose keeps logs away from the landfill. Tine: 2.00pm
