Featured Speaker:
Featured Speaker: Bob Nisbett-Cabinet Construction Using Dowels

Got something for a 5 to 10 minute Tech Talk? Welcome!
Show and Tell always welcome.

Bob Nisbett will be our presenter at the meeting. He will demonstrate and have a slide show of cabinet construction using dowels.

Bob has been a woodworker from high school days making chairs, cabinets, tables and other things made of wood. He took the 9-month program at the College of the Redwoods in 1995 and again in 1996.

He learned new ways to design and make cabinets and to work to very high standards of workmanship.

Originally, fine cabinets were constructed using dowels for the joinery. The dowel holes were located using a one time Maple drill jig, and a new jig was made for each cabinet. Seeking to find an easer way to locate the dowel holes, he purchased a Dowelmax, which was designed and made by a woodworker in Canada. This jig is very well made and accurate, and this is what he uses now. He will demonstrate this tool using it to locate dowel holes for cabinet joinery.
