Differential wood movement with inlays?

I am designing a table top which will have an inlaid segmented oval about 12in x 8 in. The table top will be 3/4in Honduras Mahogany and the inlay will 1/8in thick Indian rosewood and some other woods. With a normal table top I allow for expansion across the grain by using one of the standard toggle or slotted screw methods of attachment. On this top the inlay will be glued into a routed recess in the top and, if I get it right, will be a tight fir between the oval inlay and it's recess. Because of the segmented structure of the inlay some segments of the rosewood have grain running parallel to the mahogany top and some will be at right angles to the grain.

Question: Do I have to allow for the expansion/contraction of the inlay being different than the table top?

Dust collection system?

I am in the process of setting up a dust collection system in my workshop. I am getting a Grizzly cyclone with 6 inch intake hose size. However, where can I find 6" PVC pipes? I checked the normal big box stores. They usually only carry pvc pipes up to 4". The only stock I found was $30 for 2 feet of 6" pvc pipes at home depot. Where do you get 6" pvc pipes?

I do find 6" sheet metal pipes in big box stores. And in fact, it is cheaper than pvc ones. 10ft. for $30. Is sheet metal pipes are viable option? How to insure that there is no leak?

Power tools for basement shop?

Finally have my basement shop finished and now I have to buy power tools. Looking for recommendations on both a band saw and jointer or combo jointer/planer. I have plenty of power, so a 240vac for both is easy. I'm looking for a bandsaw a 12 inch height cutting capacity and a rigid steel frame. Brand isn't important as much as performance and durability.

I'd like to get a 8" jointer or combo european style jointer/planer that can handle 10 to 12 inch wide wood. Have visions of cutting my own veneers. Working with a budget for the first time in my life.

Cryogenic Turning Tools?

This month's Woodcraft catalog has a range of new "Cryogenic" turning tools. The claim is that by subjecting the steel to -300oF it "modifies the micro-structure of the steel into a more uniform grain structure that allows you to hone a fine edge that is more durable and more resistant to wear. Therefore they stay sharp two to three times longer than M-2 High Speed Steel"

Does anyone know the reality of this?

Are Cryogenic chisels and plane blades available?

Applying WATCO Wipe-On Polyurethane to Rosewood?

I am having trouble applying WATCO Wipe-On Polyurethane to rosewood. Is it the oil in the rosewood that causes the trouble? Should I apply some form of sealer coat first?
